CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work Safely in the construction industry
This course provides the mandatory Work Health and Safety (WHS) training required for individuals undertaking construction work. Participants will develop an understanding of their responsibilities under workplace health and safety legislation and gain the essential knowledge needed to work safely and help prevent injury or harm to themselves and others on construction sites.
The course covers the identification and reporting of common construction hazards, the application of basic risk control measures, and the procedures for responding to workplace incidents and emergencies. Participants will also learn how to correctly select, fit, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) commonly required in the construction industry. Successful completion of this unit supports safe work practices and prepares learners to enter construction sites with a strong awareness of workplace safety requirements.

Entry Requirements

Be 14 years of age or older and provide proof of age.

Provide a valid form of current photo identification.

Demonstrate the required Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills to participate in training and assessment activities.

Have the physical capacity to correctly demonstrate the donning and removal of personal protective equipment (PPE) during assessment activities.
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will:

Successfully complete the nationally recognised unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry.

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to work safely on construction sites in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Meet the training requirements for a Construction Induction Card (White Card) application.

Have their training records submitted to WorkSafe Victoria by the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) on their behalf.

Be eligible to receive a Construction Induction Card (White Card) issued by WorkSafe Victoria, subject to regulatory processing requirements.

Receive their White Card by mail following approval and processing by WorkSafe Victoria.
